Ontario Centres of Excellence
Ontario Centres of Excellence (OCE) drives the development of Ontario’s economy by helping create new jobs, products, services, technologies and businesses.
In partnership with industry, OCE co-invests to commercialize innovation originating in the province’s publicly funded colleges, universities and research hospitals. We also support and invest in early-stage projects, where the probability of commercial success and potential total return on innovation are substantial. Another expanding focus for OCE is the development of the next generation of innovators through our entrepreneurship fellowships and programs for students and youth across Ontario.

Communitech
Communitech helps tech companies start, grow, and succeed. That’s their mission, mantra, and reason for being. Everything Communiech does ties back to collaboration and helping—values that run deep in this organization.
Communitech was founded in 1997 by a group of dedicated entrepreneurs who wanted to raise the profile of the Waterloo Region tech community. Their vision: more tech talent, a globally-recognized tech sector and better support for companies.
Today, Communitech is an industry-led innovation centre that supports, fosters and celebrates a community of nearly 1,000 tech companies. Communitech supports companies at all stages of growth and development from startups to rapidly-growing mid-sized companies and large global players and we have fun doing it.
The Communitech Hub is the homebase and a clubhouse for the Waterloo Region tech community. The Communitech Hub is 50,000+ square feet dedicated to world-leading collaboration and innovation. Here Communitech brings together key players—from startups and global brands, to government agencies, academic institutions, tech incubators and accelerators—to create an environment like no other.
Focused on fuelling job creation and company growth, the Hub keeps buzzing well beyond typical business hours. It plays host to events, special guests and other shenanigans, serves as a collaborative office space for a mix of tech and non-tech companies, and as a drop-in space for guests.
